Nokia says: Expect Live Mobile TV on your cellphone by mid 2006

Get ready for Mobile TV networks as early as next year. Mobile phone giant Nokia has announced it expects to see mobile TV networks up and running by mid 2006. This will finally mean the ability to watch live TV on your cell phones.

The technology is currently being piloted in 40 markets around the world, and Nokia plans to make the technology a standard feature on its mobile phones. Expect to either pay-per-view or on some kind of flat rate. I also expect there may be instances where you may get free access in exchange for viewing ads.
